Marlborough Place
The Brief

This project involved the redecoration of a house in Marlborough Place, St John’s Wood, London. The brief was:

one
Create a comfortable living space for an oil executive and his family returning from a tour in Kazakhstan.

two
Work closely with the client to source interesting antique and upholstered furniture.

three
Allow colourful Kazakh rugs and artefacts to dictate the colour scheme.

The Result

Andrew Martin furniture provided a successful starting point for the upholstered seating with elegant sofas and unusual armchairs: neutral colours for the sofas, the cushions reflecting the jewel shades in the rugs and striking rich colours for the chairs.

To balance the vibrancy of the rugs we purchased a dark Oriental coffee table and Ming cupboard from Nine Schools and continued this theme in the bedrooms with decorative bedside cupboards and chest of drawers.

Tyson Benison was a wonderful source of inspiration: he supplied the beautiful console tables and lamps in the reception and in the dining room, the consoles, mirrors and a matching candelabra and table lamps.

Antique furniture throughout supplied and refurbished by a Suffolk dealer with some individual occasional tables purchased from dealers in the Cotswolds.

Panaz supplied the stunning dining room curtain fabric.
